Windsurf boards FAQs

Why should I get involved with windsurfing?

Windsurfing is a very fun as well as a very healthy way to get out of the house and spend time enjoying the great outdoors. Likewise, it is also a challenging exercise that is able to bring the whole family together and allows family members to cheer each other on as they learn the craft. One of the great things about windsurfing is the fact that age and gender really have no meaning in windsurfing. As long as you have a desire to learn and are not afraid of water, you can be a windsurfer.

How do I get started?

Really, the easiest way to get started with windsurfing is simply to take lessons from a professional at a certified sailing school. It is best to work with professionals thanks to the fact that their methodical approach and their willingness to teach can help put the beginning wind boarder at ease and relax as they learn how to utilize the equipment. There are many specialty shops that rent equipment that also double as training centers. Often the employees at these shops are the same people who are skillful at windsurfing and will be able to teach you once you get into the water.

How much is it going to cost me to be a windsurfer?

Most windsurfing equipment is purchased in packages. This means that if you want to truly be able to learn to windsurf and have all the best equipment, you may have to spend upwards of $2,000 on a windsurf package. But, if you are a new at the sport, you may not want to get the really expensive package and instead opt for a beginner’s package that includes a simpler set of equipment. This will also cost you a little bit of money. Typically it can cost around $1,000 for a beginner’s package.
