Windsurf fins
Windsurf fins can be purchased to improve your windsurfing experience,
but they are not absolutely required. Sometimes, people are confused
about how much new material and equipment they need to buy when they
take up the hobby of windsurfing. From reading content on the Internet
and listening to people who sell windsurf supplies, it would seem absolutely
vital that they purchase as much as possible. However, this is often
not the case.
In fact, one of the things that many who are new to the hobby are confused
about is the use of windsurf fins. Some people think that the fins that
are purchased with the boards are for one reason or another a little
bit less likely to be effective.
This is not necessarily true. In fact, if you are a beginning windsurfer,
you may be best off sticking with the fins that come with the board.
Typically beginning boards also have fins that are best for beginners
anyway. As a windsurfer gains more confidence and begins to do better
and better, the windsurfer will gradually discover different board and
fin combinations.
It is very easy to damage a fin – especially if you are surfing
anywhere near rocks. When using windsurf fins and you are out of the
water, make sure the fins are covered with a rubber protector. The fin
is by far the most sensitive piece of equipment on a board, thanks to
the fact that it needs to be thin in order to be able to work effectively.
