Some are designed for beginners but it is very difficult to learn a new skill while sitting in front of a television, a capable instructor is preferred. For experienced riders though they can be a way to learn maneuvers that would be impossible for an instructor to teach.
A windsurfing DVD can show maneuvers that are not performed or even known about by many people. Flips and rolls on a windsurfer are incredible to watch and being in a movie allows enthusiasts to watch and learn those tricks over and over and over again before they try attempting those tricks themselves. While having a real instructor will help it might be impossible to find one qualified enough.
A windsurfing DVD can be found at many windsurfing equipment retailers as well as other surf shops and online. Most of them focus on specific styles of windsurfing with the most popular movies being freestyle and wave. Freestyle windsurfers perform complex maneuvers including aerial flips and spins while wave windsurfers ride waves and use them as giant ramps for aerial freestyle tricks.
